

As well as creating a belay for bringing up a second, building solid and reliable anchors is an essential aspect of the following:
- Setting up a top-rope
- Abseiling (such as for gear retrieval, sea cliff climbing, retreat, rescue)
- Self lining (moving up and down a fixed line such as for photography, route cleaning/gardening)
- Top Rope Soloing
Whilst there are some common principle, each of these has a different set of considerations which will be covered in some detail
A very hands on course which will cover rock rigging principles and examples of use. The following topics will be covered:
- Personal safety
- Anchor selection (ideal through to minimal)
- Use of gear, slings, rope, cordalette
- Equalisation options
- Masterpoint above vs below the edge
- Rope management
- Etiquette considerations
- Re-directs / re-anchors
There will be lots of scope for answering questions and looking at specific use-cases as well as plenty of climbing / abseiling / ascending options.
This one day course will run at a single pitch crag which maximises learning opportunities and is most appropriate for the forecast and prevailing weather conditions.
The day will be entirely crag based, meeting 09:30 and typically finishing 16:00.
All technical equipment will be provided but if you wish to use your own gear then feel free to bring it along.
